Our Style of Worship

We worship reverently with a Spirit-controlled demeanor in a meditative atmosphere as we praise our most-holy God. We worship with music that is distinctly Christian, not worldly music sprinkled with a superficial coating of Christian verbiage. We reject as unscriptural the rock-and-roll and night -club style of music being utilized by many churches. Our worship emphasizes God’s word and obedience to Biblical doctrine. We focus on obedience to objective truth, not on adrenal-emotional satisfaction. Our purpose in worship is to Glorify God. God has shown us that He is the priority in worship and not we ourselves. The worshipers satisfaction is not the responsibility of the music leader nor is it to be manufactured by the sensational music and technological tools. Whether or not the worshiper is satisfied is really a matter of his relationship with God. The Biblical worshiper is satisfied by virtue of his love for God and his relationship to Christ.

We are still a work in progress, but we endeavor to worship in the manner which is best-suited to honor and magnify God. The Scriptures tell us that “God is to be greatly feared in the assembly of the saints and to be in reverence of all them that are about him” (Ps. 89:7). We seek to worship God in reverence and godly fear, remembering that our God is a consuming fire.  This distinguishes the First Baptist Church from many others.
